What Is Mesotherapy? Microneedling, Needleless Mesotherapy & Peptides

Professional aesthetic treatments have changed significantly over the years. Today, clinics can choose from mesotherapy, microneedling and needleless mesotherapy, then select professional formulas according to the skin or scalp concern. Ingredients such as peptides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and targeted professional solutions can play an important role in these protocols.

Although these treatments are often discussed together, they are not the same. Understanding the difference helps professionals select an appropriate technique and compatible products for each protocol.

What Is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a professional technique that traditionally uses multiple small injections to place selected solutions into superficial layers of the skin. The technique was developed in France in the 1950s by physician Michel Pistor and later became widely used in aesthetic practice.

In aesthetics, the selected formula depends on the treatment goal and professional assessment. Formulas may contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, antioxidants, peptides or other targeted ingredients when appropriate for their intended professional use.

Mesotherapy should be performed only by appropriately trained and qualified professionals and in accordance with local regulations and the intended use of the product.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is different from mesotherapy. Instead of injecting a cocktail through individual injections, a microneedling device uses multiple very fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin.

The procedure is commonly used in professional aesthetic protocols focused on the appearance of skin texture, tone, fine lines and overall skin quality. Only products specifically appropriate and intended for the selected professional microneedling protocol should be used during or after treatment.

DR.MESO® professional systems include targeted solutions that allow trained professionals to build protocols around different skin and scalp concerns.

What Is Needleless Mesotherapy?

Needleless mesotherapy is a professional approach that does not use injection needles. Depending on the professional device, technologies such as electroporation or other non-injection delivery methods may be used to support the application of compatible topical formulas.

This option can be useful when a clinic wants a non-injection approach while still creating a targeted professional treatment using appropriate serums and solutions.

Needleless mesotherapy should not be confused with injectable mesotherapy or microneedling. Each method works differently and requires its own professional protocol.

Mesotherapy vs Microneedling vs Needleless Mesotherapy

The easiest way to understand the difference is by the method used. Mesotherapy traditionally uses small injections of an appropriate professional solution. Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled microchannels. Needleless mesotherapy uses a non-injection device-based approach with compatible topical formulas.

These techniques do not need to compete with one another. A professional clinic can select the method that best fits the client, treatment goal, product instructions and practitioner scope of practice.

Why Peptides Fit Professional Skin Protocols

Peptides are short chains of amino acids and are widely used in modern cosmetic skincare. Different peptides are selected for different formulation goals, including supporting the appearance of smoother, firmer and well-conditioned skin.

This is why peptides can fit naturally into professional aesthetic skincare. When a peptide formula is specifically designed and appropriate for a particular professional protocol, it can be selected alongside ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and other targeted actives.

The important point is compatibility: not every cosmetic serum is intended for use with microneedling, mesotherapy or a professional device. Professionals should use products according to their intended use and treatment protocol.

Peptides, Hyaluronic Acid & Targeted Professional Solutions

A professional protocol does not need the same formula for every client. DR.MESO® Professional offers targeted solutions for different aesthetic goals, including peptide formulas, Hyaluronic Acid 2%, brightening solutions, mature-skin protocols, acne-prone skin protocols and professional hair/scalp care.

Some professional protocols may also incorporate newer cosmetic technologies such as exosome-based topical products when the specific product is intended and appropriate for that use.

Professional Skin & Scalp Protocols

Professional treatment planning can include more than the procedure itself. A complete protocol may include skin preparation, the professional treatment, post-procedure calming care and appropriate home care.

For scalp and thinning-hair concerns, professionals may select targeted scalp solutions according to the client's needs and the intended professional protocol. For facial treatments, the selection may focus on hydration, firmness, radiance, texture or other cosmetic concerns.
